Family friendly accommodation in Hvar
Known for attracting the rich and famous, I knew finding good family-friendly accommodation at an affordable price in Hvar might be a challenge.
After staying in centrally located apartments in both Dubrovnik and Korcula, we were keen to spend more time relaxing in Hvar. We wanted family-friendly accommodation in a good location with a swimming pool for the kids.
There is actually a good selection of hotels and apartments within walking distance from Hvar town and at prices to suit all budgets. However, finding centrally located accommodation with a swimming pool at an affordable price is more difficult.

Why choose Dela B&B?
Dela B&B certainly ticks all of the boxes for being family friendly, affordable, in a great location in Hvar and has a beautiful swimming pool!
Run by a lovely family that can’t do enough for you
Dela B&B is run by an incredibly warm and hospitable family that really go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
The place was lovingly built, brick by brick in 2013 by Dad (Mladen). The day to day running is carried out by Mum (Magda) and the three lovely daughters (Ivana, Marija and Lidija).
Then there is Uncle Vincent who spends his time driving guests to and from Hvar town – all part of the service and completely complimentary!
Vincent is such a genuine, lovely man who enjoys getting to know you and provides lots of information and tips about the town and island.
He even drove us up to Spanjola Fortress in time to watch the magnificent sunset. From the top, you can take a leisurely walk back down the path into Hvar town centre.
We chose Dela B&B because it had everything that we wanted, but the outstanding reviews completely sold it to us.

A mini tourist information
In the main reception area, there is lots of information on things to do and maps of the town and island. The family are more than happy to provide advice and tips on what to do and will even help arrange excursions for you.
We hired a little motorboat out for the day to explore the Pakleni Islands. They arranged it all for us and even drove us to our boat.
Completely family friendly
Dela B&B is perfectly suitable for couples and individuals but if you’ve got kids then you will be made completely welcome at Dela B&B. The whole family love kids and make such a fuss of them.
Dela B&B has less than 20 rooms but offers a number of room options for families. We stayed in a triple room with balcony and sea view which was perfect for us.
Our youngest was only just 2 years old so was still sleeping in a cot, which was provided at no additional cost. Our eldest had a single bed and we had a double bed.
Rooms come with a kettle and fridge, so you can keep snacks and milk in for the kids.
The rooms are clean, bright and airy and the kids loved the daily top up of sweets at the end of the corridor.
A truly perfect location
We initially wanted somewhere really central so that we could walk out in the evenings without the stroller. But finding family-friendly accommodation with a swimming pool in the centre of Hvar town is pretty much impossible (unless you are happy to pay a small fortune).
Dela B&B is located approximately 0.7 miles out of Hvar town so still close enough to walk but you’d need a stroller for babies and toddlers. However, one of the best things about Dela B&B is that Uncle Vincent is always on hand to taxi you in and out of town.
First thing in the morning until 11pm at night, Vincent is there to drive you at no extra charge. This meant that we could go out in the evening without the stroller but didn’t have to walk too far (and ultimately take turns to carry our youngest).
The location of Dela B&B also means you get the most incredible views out to the sea and across the beautiful Pakleni Islands. One of my favourite things was sitting on the balcony in the morning with a cup and tea and in the evening with a glass of wine watching the most amazing sunset.
A beautiful swimming pool and terrace
We wanted a swimming pool and Dela B&B certainly has a beautiful pool with comfortable sun loungers. There is a lovely spacious terrace with pool table, table tennis, board games and books etc.
If you fancy a bite to eat, they also provide bar snacks and drinks at a reasonable price too.
A delicious breakfast for all
Breakfast is served in the main reception/lobby area which leads out to the pool area so you can choose to sit undercover or closer to the pool.
You can help yourself to cereals but you are served a huge platter of bread, croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheeses and meats. On top of this, you can order omelettes, eggs, waffles etc – it really is amazing!
Getting to Dela B&B
Hvar does not have its own airport on the island so you will need to take the ferry from the mainland or one of the other islands.
We took the 1 hour 15-minute Krilo ferry from Korcula to Hvar, which cost 110 kuna (approx. £14) per person. Children under 3 travel free.

Final thoughts on Dela B&B
Dela B&B certainly met our expectations in terms of family-friendly rooms, great location and a beautiful swimming pool.
But it really is the family that makes it so special. They are such genuinely lovely people who make your stay just perfect.
If there was a list of the most amazing family-friendly accommodation in Hvar, I’m sure Dela B&B would be right at the top.
